The Sana’nian Zana
  • The Sana’nian Zana

"The Sana'nian Zana" was characterized by the widespread adoption of fashion trends among almost all women in Sana'a during the early 1970s.

The popular dress style at the time resembled Western fashion from the 1940s and 1950s. Women in Sana'a relied on fashion magazines such as Hawa's and Saidity to stay up to date with the latest trends, particularly those from Beirut in the 1970s. The so-called klush, along with French fashion, was a major influence on dress styles in Sana'a. This trend inspired many women to become famous seamstresses, who would work from their homes."
